A Guide to Minimizer Bras

A Guide to Minimizer Bras

Do you have a large chest and wish to draw less attention to it? If so, what you should be looking for is a minimizer bra. These bras are designed to reduce breast projection by up to two inches for a more flattering shape under clothes.
How They Work
Minimizer Bras create the illusion of a smaller bust by evenly distributing the breast tissue around the cup. Thanks to special construction, the breast tissue is pushed in towards the chest and out towards the armpits. The resulting look is a smaller bust! This works in two ways.
By Compression: Similar to a sports bra, the material of your bra helps push your breast tissue in towards your chest, decreasing the projection outwards.
By Construction: The special construction pushes your breast tissue out towards the sides, again decreasing the projection of your breasts outwards.
Underwire Vs. Soft Cup
When selecting your minimizer bra, you can either go with an underwire or a soft cup. Your selection depends on what you feel more comfortable in or the type of silhouette you're trying to achieve.
Bra Tip: Bras get their shape from either seams or the underwire.
For instance, if you're looking for a bra to wear under thin tops such as t-shirts or silk blouses, you'll need a seamless minimizer. If you're wearing heavy knits, you can opt for a soft cup minimizer with seams.
Sports Bras vs. Minimizer Bras
Some women wear sports bras to minimize their busts. This is a viable solution since sports bras do compress the breasts and result in a smaller looking chest. However, sports bras aren't created to shape the breasts. The silhouette may not be the most flattering for the type of clothing you're interested in wearing.
Price Ranges
Minimizer bras come in a wide variety of price ranges. For example, the Olga's Christina Lace Minimizer Bra is $26 while the Simone Perele Andora Minimizer is $77. Ideally, you should buy the bra that fits your body best. It will take trial-and-error to find your best fit and this isn't always determined by the price of the bra. Just because it's expensive doesn't mean it fits and vice versa.
Emotional benefits of Minimizer Bras
If the article of clothing you're wearing fits well, you'll feel well. The same applies to your bra. If you feel more comfortable in your bra, you'll feel more comfortable all around. Women with large busts are often afraid of drawing attention for the wrong reasons. A good minimizer bra will draw attention away from your chest so you can feel more confident.
