Choosing the Right Lipstick

Choosing the Right Lipstick

Lipsticks are one of the most popular and purchased cosmetic product in the world. The reason is because this one product can brighten up a face instantly, and is highly beneficial if a person has time to apply only one product. However, one lipstick will not be suitable for every woman, which is why so many formulations are on the market.
Types of Lipstick
The two main types of lipstick are matte and creamy, with sub categories enveloping from there. The sub categories can be anything from a semi matte formula to a lip plumping formula and everything in between. In addition, there are full color lipsticks as well as tinted lipstick formulas.
Different Formulations
When deciding upon a formula it boils down to preference. Skin types do not come into play here because the lips do not produce oil, therefore, regardless of your skin type, you can use any lipstick you please. A creamy formula is going to give the most shine and luster, whereas a matte formula will give off a non-shiny and more demure look. Again, it is merely a matter of preference as to which look you want, often you can change it up depending on the occasion your are wearing the lipstick.
Finding Your Best Color for Various Occasions
The full color formulas are more suitable for dressy occasions (the red, plum or pink shades), when you head to work the more neutral shades are best, especially if you work in an office or upper management. Sheer or tinted colors are more suitable for running errands or for casual outings with friends or family. If you are at home, only a clear lip moisturizer is necessary to keep lips soft and supple.
Be Careful Handling Department Store Testers
You may need to try several formulas to determine what feels best on your lips. However, it is important and necessary to exercise extreme caution when handling testers in a department store cosmetics counter. To avoid the spreading of germs and bacteria, always ask the beauty advisor to spray the lipstick tester with alcohol to disinfect, and then wipe off the top area with a tissue. You should never apply a tester directly on the lips. Instead, use a Q-Tip or a disposable lip brush. In addition, only swipe the lipstick tester once with each disposable brush, then applies the lipstick using the disposable brush.
The reason you must be careful is that the mouth is the fastest and easiest way to spread germs from person to person. However, this should not be a deterrent from trying testers in order to find your shade. By practicing careful handling of the tester and application, looking for a new lip color or lipstick can be one of the most enjoyable and uplifting experiences you will ever find.
Final Thoughts
Lipsticks have been around for many years and will no doubt continue to be a favorite among women all over the world. Finding your perfect shades for various occasions takes a bit of work, but in the end, it is well worth your time and effort.
